When Ellen Schwartz asked if I would be willing to do a sketchnote of her latest book, Without One Word Spoken:18 Life Lessons from Jacob, I already had the book tucked away in my desk with the pile of other books that are “next on my list”. I was thrilled to be able to support her message in this way. We can all offer different kinds of support and if my sketchnotes spoke to Ellen, I was happy for the challenge.
If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it. Her book is about the lessons she has learned from her son, Jacob, who lives with a neurodegenerative disease called Canavan’s Disease.
The honesty and clarity with which Ellen writes her heartfelt stories of understanding and gratitude will resonate with many. Although what Ellen and her husband Jeff have lived with is extraordinary, the lessons she shares help all of us to put challenges in perspective so that we can live a life of gratitude.
Thank you Ellen for this beautiful opportunity to illustrate your words and lessons.
